Qualitech Goes Heavy with the UK’s First ADR-Specified Volvo FM Tridems

Qualitech Environmental Services has bolstered its national fleet with two groundbreaking Volvo FM Globetrotter 8x4 Tridem rigids—fitted with ADR-certified Disab vacuum tanker bodies. Believed to be the first of their kind on UK roads, these high-performance machines are already turning heads in the world of industrial waste and tanker transport.

Based in St Helens, Qualitech will deploy the trucks across its network to handle heavy-duty waste removal, including hazardous materials. Managing Director Danny Casey calls the Volvo-Disab combo “a perfect fit,” praising both the spec sophistication and support from Volvo throughout the build.

Under the hood? A Euro VI D13K engine delivering 500 hp and 2500 Nm of torque, paired with Volvo’s razor-sharp 12-speed I-Shift transmission. The rear features a hydraulic steered tag axle for superior manoeuvrability and minimal tyre wear—essential for tight turns and tough worksites.

Spec’d with rear air suspension and high-clearance chassis for off-road reliability, the trucks also offer serious comfort inside: leather trim, microwave oven, fridge, advanced air-con, and a restful lower bunk make life on the road feel anything but basic.

Now operating nationwide, the new additions push Qualitech’s all-Volvo fleet close to 50 strong—each one backed by Volvo Gold Contracts, ensuring uptime, reliability, and full lifecycle peace of mind.
