Freight Fuels Growth with Volvo FH Aero Trucks
Joda Freight has turbocharged its operations
with the addition of six brand-new Volvo FH Aero 6x2 tractor units. This latest
investment underscores the company's commitment to innovation, sustainability,
and delivering top-tier service across its diverse transport portfolio.
Strength in Partnership Based in
Yorkshire, Joda Freight has cultivated a decades-long partnership with Volvo
and its trusted dealer, Crossroads Truck and Bus in Birstall. With Volvo trucks
making up 85% of the fleet, the loyalty speaks volumes. Neil Tullett, Joda
Freight’s co-owner, explains: "We've tested alternatives but always
return to Volvo. Their reliability, competitive pricing, and outstanding
aftersales service make them unbeatable."
A First for Joda Freight While no
strangers to Volvo vehicles, the new arrivals are the company’s first FH Aeros.
Boasting enhanced aerodynamics, these trucks promise notable savings in energy
consumption and emissions compared to the standard FH model—an exciting step
toward more sustainable operations.
Under the hood, each FH Aero is powered by a
Euro-6 compliant D13 Step E engine delivering an impressive 500 hp, paired with
a 12-speed I-Shift automated gearbox and I-See predictive cruise control. These
features ensure optimal performance and efficiency, making them a smart
addition to the fleet.
Innovative Tools for the Road Ahead Joda
Freight plans to closely monitor the FH Aeros' fuel performance using the Volvo
Connect fleet management system, which provides real-time tracking of vehicles,
fuel use, and driver hours. Meanwhile, advanced safety measures like additional
cameras, sensors, and compliance with London’s three-star Direct Vision
Standard (DVS) ensure these trucks are equipped for both local and
long-distance operations.
Driver Comfort at the Core The
trucks' Globetrotter cabs are designed with drivers in mind. Featuring a
premium Drive+ package, amenities include electronic air conditioning with
sensors, an adjustable steering wheel, a roof hatch, and even a microwave oven
for on-the-go convenience. As Tullett puts it, "We prioritize our
drivers' comfort—they're the backbone of our operations."
Driving Forward Joda
Freight’s new FH Aeros are set to cover 90,000 km annually across a variety of
tasks, including general haulage, supermarket deliveries, and specialized
transport. This move aligns with the company’s expansion goals under its new
leadership. Tullett and co-owner Kieron Talbot-Sykes are entering their third
year at the helm of the business, which operates a diverse fleet of over 60
vehicles and 150 trailers.
Founded more than 30 years ago by John Collett
and Dave Wareing, Joda Freight continues to evolve while staying true to its
roots—offering quality service and embracing advancements that drive the
company forward.
