Major DAF fleet operator, Turners (Soham) Ltd., has

become one of the first DAF customers in the UK to take delivery of models from

the market-leading truck manufacturer’s full range of vehicles. Examples from

DAF’s XB, XD, XF, XG and XG+ product

line-up underline the diverse nature of the Turners business model.

The Cambridgeshire fleet

operator – providers of a full range of transport services including

temperature-controlled, bulk, container, tanker and fuel distribution – now has

more than 600 New Generation DAF trucks in its fleet, with a similar number

ordered as fleet replacements and additions in 2025.

The very latest intake of

vehicles feature DAF’s Corner View technology, replacing the exterior kerb-view

mirror, which, the company says, ‘delivers a significant safety benefit’.

With more than 2600 trucks in total across the company’s various operating

divisions, the DAF marque makes up over 60% of the fleet total. All DAF

vehicles are delivered by the Cambridgeshire- and Suffolk-based family-owned

DAF Dealer, Chassis Cab.

Turners is also Europe’s largest

operator of DAF’s lightweight 6x2 FTP mid-lift tractor – currently the New

Generation DAF XF 450 model – with more than 200 operating in the fleet today.

Turners was also part of the New Generation DAF pre-production field test

programme, delivering crucial operational feedback prior to the roll-out of

DAF’s new heavy duty truck range. Since introducing DAF’s FTP axle

configuration to its fleet in 2003, Turners has operated more than 1200 of this

specific model alone.

Group Fleet Engineer, Tim King,

said, “While DAF continues to produce class-leading trucks, supported by the

best dealer network in the industry, we’ll continue our partnership with this

particular manufacturer. I think we’re unique in being the only fleet operator

to run the complete DAF New Generation range, demonstrating how important the

DAF marque is in our fleet. The latest deliveries have the Corner View system

with the in-cab-mounted screen providing a much better view right around the

corner of the vehicle at the passenger side, and it delivers a significant

safety benefit.”
