Myers Transport has taken delivery of its first

Renault Trucks T High Turbo Compound vehicle, a move that’s being signalled as

a game-changer by the Aylesford-based company. Already delivering an impressive

11 mpg, the new addition marks a crucial leap forward in the company’s mission

to drive down fuel costs further and to lower its environmental impact. With a

second Turbo Compound set to join the fleet soon, the company is strengthening

its commitment to efficiency and sustainability in every mile.

The new Renault Trucks T High Turbo Compound,

supplied by Jamie Sutherland at Renault Truck Commercials, is operating with

the company’s core business hauling continental ferry trailers across the UK,

and is already exceeding expectations.

“This is the first Turbo Compound on our fleet, and

we’re seeing an average of 11mpg from it, which is a game changer for our

business,” said Tony Myers, Myers Transport’s Managing Director. “We

operate 10 other Renault Trucks T520 Highs, which have always been economical

to run, but the Turbo Compound takes it to another level.”

Fuel efficiency is a top priority for Myers

Transport, driven not only by operational costs but also by customer

expectations. “Our customers are very interested in us running as

fuel-efficient vehicles as possible, and the Turbo Compound hits the mark

perfectly. Until we’re confident enough to go electric, in our opinion, this is

the next best step,” added Tony Myers.

Equipped with Renault Trucks’ latest DE13 TC engine

for optimum performance, the engine’s Turbo Compound technology optimises fuel

efficiency and performance, providing increased torque, resulting in improved

engine responsiveness. For greater fuel savings, Renault Trucks’ Smart Torque

Control solution maximises the time spent in the zone with the best engine

efficiency to deliver the required torque when needed.

Additionally, the Optivision Map Based gear shift

strategy for FUEL ECO anticipates topography and ECO Cruise control with

Optiroll, works to further control fuel consumption.

Driver acceptability is already high and will

resonate with customers too, according to Tony Myers:

“Our drivers love the truck, it’s one of the

best on the market and I’m very confident our customers will be very impressed

with the standard of the vehicle and its reliability too.”

As part of a growing fleet of 58 tractor units, the

new Renault Trucks T High Turbo Compound is set to become an integral part of

Myers Transport’s UK operations. “The T High suits us for several reasons,

not least driver acceptability, reliability, and being frugal on fuel. We’re

very happy with the service we receive from Renault Truck Commercials, and we

look forward to seeing further results as our fleet continues to evolve,” concluded

Tony.
